Religious Right September 25, 2019 A security officer alleged that his employer discriminated and retaliated against him on the basis of his religion when the employer refused a religious accommodation request that would have provided for an exception to the employer’s grooming policy. The parties mediated the complaint and a settlement was reached. Under the settlement, the employer agreed to provide the employee with a twenty-five cent hourly pay raise effective as of the day the employee made his original accommodation request. The employer also agreed to accommodate the employee’s religious beliefs, effective immediately, by allowing the employee to exhibit facial hair at work.
